Bootstraps Training Program at Aunt Leah's Thrift

In collaboration with Aunt Leah’s youth services, such as SEFFY (Supporting Education for Foster Youth), The Link, Support Link & Dan’s Legacy, the the Bootstraps Program aims to remove barriers to employment. In addition, the program enables youth in and from care every opportunity to explore, and advance their skills to find meaningful sustainable employment.

Bootstraps takes a holistic approach to addressing barriers to employment youth may face, while also coaching in critical employability skills.

Aunt Leah's Thrift provides the individuals in the Bootstraps program with paid skill training and also helps them with housing, furniture, clothing, and other essential needs.

14 Youth participated in retail training in the last year

Our bootstraps participants gain valuable experience by assisting staff in our donations center, thrift store and this online shopping experience. Our youth are the primary stewards of our online store. This includes choosing items, taking of photos, editing photos, adding descriptions and general upkeep of the inventory.
